The County Fair

The County Fair was/is open this week from Wednesday – Sunday.  I’ve never seen a fair like this growing up on Long Island. They have livestock: cows, pigs, goats, sheep (not zombie), chickens, rabbits, roosters and I’m sure many more that I am probably forgetting. They auction the livestock off before they open daily at 3pm. Which, that, in and of itself, amazes me. There were tons of vendors and amusement park type rides, but the clouds were closing in so I just ran around like a maniac trying to get as many pictures as I could before the rain started.

I'm 5'3"....this tire is taller than I am.

Before the doors open on Wednesday, the judges give out ribbons to those that entered their goods into whatever competition they chose.

By now, if you’ve been reading my blog, you know that I LOVE to bake. This is just A-MAZING. Some kid made this cake. Actually took the time and, instead of just entering a plain old layer cake like the rest of competitors, thought this through. I’d give this cake first place just for the imagination that went into it. I just wish I saw it before the heat got to it.

That’s a smell I won’t soon forget.
